What is TipWorthy?

TipWorthy is an app that is designed to let you tip people when you don't have any cash, the right change, or its just easier to do it electronically. Common use cases are porters, garage attendants, supers, or hotel staff.

Why should I use your service?

If you receive tips there are many times people would want to tip you but don't have the cash or change. You are leaving those tips on the table if you don't give your customers an electronic way to tip you and those tips can add up! If you are a tipper and run into times where you want to tip people but don't have cash or change this is a way to show appreciation.

Who can sign up for TipWorthy?

Anyone can sign up for TipWorthy, if you have the need to tip people, or if you are in position where you receive tips TipWorthy can help make your life easier and earn more money.

How do I tip someone?

In order to tip someone you first need their Merchant ID. You can either look for the TipWorthy logo, or just ask! If the person you want to tip doesn't have a TipWorthy account they can sign up in 30 seconds and give you their merchant ID then. Once you have the Merchant ID, go to the "TIP" tab in the app and enter it in the text field labeled "Enter Merchant ID". It will then prompt you for how much you want to tip.

How do I sign up to receive tips?

Go to the Account tab and see if you have a Merchant ID underneath your name. If you do, you're all set, you just need to give that ID to people who want to tip you. If you DON'T see a Merchant ID on the Account screen, you will see a button labeled "Become a Merchant", once you click that you will receive your Merchant ID you can give to your customers.

How do I request a refund?

If you are a merchant, you can simply go to your setting tab and click the "CASH OUT" button. If you are a tipper, you will need to contact us at support@tipworthy.co.

How do I get my tip money?

Go to the Account tab and click on the "CASH OUT" button. This will transfer the money to your PayPal or Dwolla account. If you haven't attached your PayPal or Dwolla account to your TipWorthy account you can also do this in the Payment Details section on your Account tab. If you don't have a PayPal or Dwolla account you can either go to paypal.com or dwolla.com and sign up for an account and then provide your account details on the Account tag, OR you can just provide your e-mail address on the Account tab and pick which account you want us to sign you up for and then first time you request a payout you will receive instructions on how to setup your account.

What if I don't have a PayPal or Dwolla account and I want to get paid?

At some point you will have to sign up for a Dwolla or PayPal account because that is how we transfer funds to your banking account. To make it simpler enter in your e-mail and choose Dwolla or PayPal and when you request your first pay out we'll send you instructions on how to setup your Dwolla or PayPal account. Please read the question about differences between PayPal and Dwolla before you choose one or the other.

How do I add more money to my account balance?

You can add money to your account using your paypal or a credit card. On the TIP tab or the Account tab you can find your current account balance with a reload button in red to the right. Click that to add more to your account balance.

Are there fees?

Currently there is no fee for merchants to get paid, however we do charge a convenience fee for tippers of $0.30 + 3.1% for every top up.

Are there limits to how much money I can tip?

Currently there is a limit of $100.

How can I get more tips?

Our platform is growing and you can help! Add signs to your badge lettings users know they can tip you on TipWorthy that easily display your merchant ID. If you would like help displaying signage please e-mail us at support@tipworthy.co

I signed up with the wrong account type how do I switch?

If you signed up as a Tipper, but wish to be a Merchant, go to the Account tab and click the "Become a Merchant Button". If you are a Merchant and wish to become a Tipper, you can still tip with a merchant account by going to the TIP tab, you just also have the option to receive tips. If you want to remove that capability please contact us at support@tipworthy.co.

What is the difference between PayPal and Dwolla accounts?

The sign up is more complex with Dwolla, but the fees are cheaper than PayPal. Please refer to the question "Are there fees?" to see fee details.

How do I setup my merchant payment details?

As a merchant you can add or update your payment details anytime by going to the Account tab. You must enter in your company name, your e-mail address, and choose a Dwolla or PayPal account. If you already have a Dwolla or PayPal account you need to enter in the e-mail associated with that Dwolla or PayPal account. If you DON'T have a Dwolla or PayPal account just enter in your e-mail and choose Dwolla or PayPal and when you request your first pay out we'll send you instructions on how to setup your Dwolla or PayPal account.
